Here are this week’s links to a few good stories that we found and selected because we feel they might add valuable insights and perspectives for small to medium size businesses.

  •  Smallbiztrends.com had an interesting observation this week.  According to the National Bureau of Economic Research: “Firm startups account for only 3 percent of employment but almost 20 percent of gross job creation. The fastest growing continuing firms are young firms under the age of five.”  Based on what I have seen over the past year or two, I would tend to agree.  Learn more about their perspective in an interesting piece entitled Study Says Youngest Companies Are Top Job Creators.
  • How would someone describe the different types of personalities in the workplace?  I have heard much about this before, but every article is worth a look.  OPEN Forum.com posted an article that speaks to four styles:  Direct, Spirited, Considerate and Systematic.  I think I know which one I am.  It will be interesting to see if staff agrees!  Read more in 4 Types Of Personalities Found in Every Office.
  • Lastly, Paul Shread writes a brief but compelling blog post for Time Business & Money.  It makes great sense and is reassuring to an understanding business owner to know that Happy Employees Mean Greater Profits.
