- About 98% of companies employ fewer than 100 employees and many of them, especially in the Middle Atlantic states, suffered greatly from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Chelsea Emery of the Huffington Post tells a sad story of a small business caught in the wake of the storm in her piece entitled Hurricane Sandy Slams Small Business: Losing My Business Means Losing My House. It is a sad tale repeated far too often. Fortunately, most small businesses in the New England states did not feel the full brunt of the storm.
- If you’ve been in business long enough, you have certainly had to deal with a manipulative employee. Geoffrey James of Inc. Magazine contributed a nice article on management techniques that might be helpful. How to Handle a Manipulative Employee is worth a look.
