Here are this week’s links to a few good stories that we found and selected because we feel they might add valuable insights and perspectives for small to medium size businesses.

  • When valued employees work their way up the ranks, they are often challenged by their new roles as managers.  Dianna Booher, is an article posted by TLNT, the Business of HR, given some simple straight forward advice in When Leaders Coach: 3 Ways to Help Better Connect With Your Staff.
  • If you are an entrepreneur, you may feel that you have to lie to yourself on occasion to stay positive. Not a recommended business practice.  However if you read Do You Tell Yourself These Common Entrepreneur Lies?, you might find one or two that you can relate to.  This article, written by Barry Moltz and posted on Small Business Trends is a fun read about things no entrepreneur should do.
  • Lastly, as Major League Baseball takes their annual respite during the All-Star break, and being a baseball fan myself, I rather enjoyed watching Business Lessons from Baseball, posted on the Open Forum website which was hosted by J.J. Ramberg of MSNBC and featured Marley Majcher, a small business owner of a catering and events planning company.  All of her suggestions make sense, but I particularly liked “Develop Pinch Hitters” and “Load the Bases” the best.  Now if my beloved Red Sox could only step it up a notch in the second half.
