Here are this week’s links to a few good stories that we found and selected because we feel they might add valuable insights and perspectives for small to medium size businesses.
- If your company is in a hiring mode, it might be well served to use a blend of employee referrals and social media to find the right recipe to land the best possible candidates. Kes Thygesen, Co-Founder and Head of Product at RolePoint, makes a good case in How to Use Social Media for Employee Referrals in an article posted by Mashable this week.
- The Exabyzness website, always a good source for timely information on small business and Human Resource topics highlighted a survey conducted by the Kenexa High Performance Institute which was posted on Open Forum’s website. The survey captured some interesting data in Company Culture, By Industry. Of the following industries, which one might you think rated themselves the lowest? The list includes Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail, High Tech Manufacturing and Government. Few surprises here, but interesting nonetheless.
- Joanne Sammer posted an article for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) posted on May 25 entitled The Sweet Spot: Encourage Employees to Defer Adequate Pay to Their 401(k). With many Americans not saving nearly enough for retirement, this article is timely, detailed and well written.
