Here are this week’s links to a few good stories that we found and selected because we feel they might add valuable insights and perspectives for small to medium size businesses.

  • Is company culture important?  I would say it is. But then again, so is strategy. Derek Irvine, writing for TLNT sums it up pretty well in 5 Steps to Align Culture to Get Your Employee’s Strategic Buy-In.
  • Small Business Trends posted an article on April 19th that speaks to the notion of automating business processes. What’s great about it is that it touches a number of topics that are timely and worth a look.  Read Automate Your Business Where Possible and Boost Employee Productivity to learn more.
  • The Affordable Care Act required that businesses with less than 50 employees were limited on deductible plans that could be offered. Initially, qualified businesses could offer plans that did not exceed a deductible limit of $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for families. That has all changed as the result of “doc-fix” signed into law on April 1st. This change, which received bi-partisan support, removes restrictions on deductible limits. While small businesses will benefit, their employees may not due to higher costs. Kelly Spors, in an article posted by Open Forum provides the details in Small Businesses Get Another Break on Obamacare.
