Here are this week’s links to a few good stories that we found and selected because we feel they might add valuable insights and perspectives for small to medium size businesses.

  • In a recent poll, 33% of small business owners felt optimistic about the economy, but 68% felt their businesses were successful.  Pedro Hernandez speaks of 5 Tips for Finding Success in a Tough Economy in an interesting piece written for SmallBusinessComputing.com.  It is pretty clear that while optimism might not have arrived just yet, truly entrepreneurial business owners are finding ways to make it work.
  • Looking for a stocking stuffer for your favorite small business operator? You might want to consider a book authored by Colleen DeBaise entitled The Wall Street Journal Complete Small Business Guidebook.  Those who reviewed the book for Amazon.com rated it 4 ½ out of 5 stars.  Might be worth a look.
  • And lastly, perhaps Small Business owners can take heart in the success of Cyber Monday, 2012.  Oliver St. John reports the good news in Small Businesses Hit It Big With Cyber Monday.  Sales increased by 25% over last year with the average sale about 8% higher. Not a bad way to begin the holiday season!
