The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has relaxed its rules for small business owners related to the “Massachusetts Healthcare Reform Act”. Recently enacted legislation affects small
Business owners as follows:
- The threshold for being subjective to the Fair Share Contribution has been has been raised from 11 to 21 full time equivalent employees, effective July 1, 2013.
- Effective the same date, employers may exclude certain employees from the formula.
This does not change the requirement for all Massachusetts employers to file a Fair Share Contribution report each year with the Department of Unemployment Assistance. However, it is important to know that Genesis HR Solutions files these reports on behalf of its client companies.
